The Art Club stages its own annual exhibition and members are given every encouragement and support to enter for other local exhibitions.
It was founded approximately 100 years ago out of an original high-minded Workers’ Education Association class, to further the pursuit of Science, Literature and Art. This developed two sections: one for Photography and one for Art. The Art section became the St Helens Sketching Club and, eventually, the Art Club, St Helens.
There is a weekly programme of subjects which members can interpret how they choose, in any medium.
Life models and portrait sessions are scheduled regularly.
Demonstrations and workshops are commissioned from the best professional artists in the North West.
A painting holiday is available in the summer months.
